3rd Annual BLOCK PARTY Meeting Minutes
From 3rd Mtg. Thursday, May 29th, 2003 7PM

Block Party Date: Saturday, June 28th, 2003 - Mark Your Calendars!!!
Block Party Permit Update: Doug obtained 83% of block signatures (need
75% for permit). We’re good to go - will submit permit request to city.
Committee Reports:
Decoration – Chairs:
Kevin and Vivian (2526)
- Tarp Rental – Preliminary
work done – need to reserve with deposit.

Tables – Maureen checked w/ VFW – no go. Diane to check with SFX for 4 tables.

Lights – May need to collect again from neighbors this
year. (If funds are leftover from this year, we’ll purchase bulk prior to
Xmas for next year’s Party). However, if enough funds are collected and
we find a good outlet to purchase the correct length, we’ll get them for this
June.
Music/ Entertainment –
Chairs: Hope (2531) and Barry (2520)

DJ / Live music / Sound System / Open Mike – Jim
and Mo got a DJ from 5 – 10 pm for $200. Nicole has a 2 man group, “Roland”,
who can also perform. Need to confirm that it’s OK to use sound system for announcements,
awards, etc.

Need to designate an MC

Entertainment and Activities Committees will coordinate
schedules as things come together.
Food - Chairs: Marlene
(2541) and Kate (2543)

List / Shopping –
Marlene and Kara will do the bulk shopping.

Marlene will e mail me with needs of Food Committee
and a Neighborhood Flyer will be put out to all neighbors – grills, grillers,
coolers, etc.

Discussion ensued on how to have a more balanced
potluck spread – more desserts, etc. Will add to Neighborhood Flyer, with Marlene
collecting responses on who is bringing what. Adjustments can be made if we’re
too inundated with a particular item.
Activities/Games/Awards – Chairs: Laura (2525) and Monique (2509)–
Nicole to help.

Working on Children’s activities/times & Mixed
group activities/times & prizes.

Awards / Gift Certs – Laura’s making great headway with gift certificates
from local businesses and has more ideas to pursue– Also, Kate will ask Aspen
and Marlene to ask Rembrandt’s.
To Be Decided:

START TIME…3 or 4pm??? (grills should be lit and ready to go @ _______pm)

Invite Mr. Softee. Will decide on time pending activities schedule.
