Block Party Meeting Minutes
2nd Mtg.

Block Party Date: Saturday, June 28th, 2003 - Mark Your Calendars!!!
Rain Date: Sunday, June 29th, 2003
*** Fourth of July – all agreed to block off the street
again
Block Party Permit: Doug will once again be knocking
on doors to get signatures for the Block Party Permit.
Committees: All committees now have 2 people chairing
them. Please contact your chairing neighbors to assist in a particular committee
task. Anything you can do helps!
Decoration – Chairs:
Kevin and Vivian (2526)– We are scrapping the banners and using only
lights – depending on cost, we discussed purchasing lights that can be used
again / We are renting a party tarp to shade the food (Jane very generously
offered to pay for it). Thanks to Kevin for getting the old banner off the wire!
Tables – Kevin will check on cost to rent / Maureen to see if we can borrow
from VFW. (need at least 4 banquet size tables)
Music/Entertainment - Chairs: Hope (2531)
and Barry (2520) -. Exploring the cost for a DJ - Maureen
and Jim to check contacts. This would also give us a sound system for
announcements / awards, etc. Other options – open mike, random
entertainment, etc. Need to appoint an MC.
Food - Chairs: Marlene (2541) and
Kate (2543) - Once determined, shopping is a 1-2 people job. (Lois
did it on her own last year.) Need others to be responsible
for distribution / table arrangement / set-up/ maintenance / GRILLS (at least
4)/ coolers / etc. .
Activities/Games/Awards - Chairs: Laura (2525)
and Monique (2509)– Nicole to help. Tattoos,
beads, face painting, the piñata’s always fun, Scavenger Hunt, games, (Jill
offered Palm Reading!) Need a new twist for the awards and need to do earlier
than last year. NEED GIFT CERTS from local businesses for Awards…
It was decided that a sidewalk sale would be too much to incorporate into this
event and that those interested can participate in 26th
Street’s sidewalk sale on June 14th with
pot luck dinner afterwards.
To Be Decided:
- START TIME…(grills should be lit and ready to
go ½ hour prior to start?)
- Invite Mr. Softee?

Treasurer – Anita - Drop off all block party $ to 2505.

By popular demand, we will have name tags this year.

We again ask that all cars are off the street by 10
am the day of the Block Party.
